To celebrate International Women’s Day this year, SBCS promoted a live to discuss important topics not only for women, but for all people who want to promote gender equity in science.

Agronomist, with a master’s degree and doctorate in soil science and a lawyer with a specialization in philosophy, Nilvania Aparecida de Mello is a teacher of the UTFPR Agronomy course (Pato Branco), and the PPG in regional development. She was the President of the Paraná SBCS State Center (2022 – 2023) and is coordinator of the Commission 4 .3- History Epistemology and Sociology of Soil Science at SBCS.

Currently coordinates the Socitec Research Group (Society, Science and Technology) and acts in regional development, soil relations with society, soil education and environmental education; Public perception of soil management and conservation and ethnic relations in land use and occupation.

With interdisciplinary training and experience, Beatriz Wardzinski is an environmental manager graduated from the Federal University of Pampa (Unipampa) and a doctor of Soil Science (PPGCS/UFSM – 2024). Currently, he is postdoctoral student in research project on carbon stock modeling and simulation in different geochlimatic environments in southern Brazil (PPGCS/UFSM). It also works with themes related to women in science, gender equity, diversity and inclusion in the academic and scientific environment.
