Female participation in Brazilian science has advanced in recent decades. Between 2002 and 2022, the percentage of women among authors of scientific publications in the country increased from 38% to 49%, according to a survey by Elsevier released by Bori.

Despite this progress, female representation among scientists who influence public decision-making remains lower. Data from the Overton platform indicate that only 23 out of 107 Brazilian researchers cited in public policies are women.

In this context, scientific institutions play an important role in promoting equity. The Brazilian Society of Soil Science (SBCS) emphasizes the importance of expanding female participation in research and scientific leadership, strengthening diversity and the advancement of science in Brazil.
