First published in 1999, the SiBCS has become a reference for researchers, professors, students, and farmers, and is considered a true scientific best seller, with more than 37,000 printed copies sold in its previous editions.

The new edition brings together advances in knowledge on Brazilian soils produced over the past seven years, including contributions from theses, dissertations, soil surveys, and discussions from the last three Brazilian Soil Classification and Correlation Meetings (RCCs).
