On July 9–10, 2025, Professor Maria Eugenia Escobar took part in the 12th Regional Assembly of the Latin America and Caribbean Soil Partnership (ASLAC), representing the Brazilian Soil Science Society (SBCS). ASLAC is the regional group of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP), an FAO/UN initiative that promotes soil governance and sustainable soil management worldwide. The assembly brings together experts, institutions, and government representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss strategies and actions aimed at protecting and ensuring the sustainable use of soils—an essential resource for food security, environmental conservation, and climate change adaptation. A strategic space for scientific and political dialogue and coordination on soils in our region.
