On September 8, during the meeting of the Superior Council of Agribusiness (COSAG) in São Paulo, Carlos Augustin, special advisor to Minister Carlos Fávaro, presented the 2nd Eco Invest Brazil auction, which allocated R$ 30.2 billion to the program.
The first phase aims to recover between 1.4 and 3 million hectares of degraded land, and over the next 10 years, the program intends to restore 40 million hectares for sustainable production systems. The funds will be distributed across the Cerrado, Atlantic Forest, Amazon, Caatinga, Pampa, and Pantanal biomes.
Producers will be able to access credit at below-market interest rates, provided they commit to not clearing new areas and conduct an annual carbon balance.
