Great news for soil science! The Brazilian Journal of Soil Science (RBCS) has just achieved the largest impact factor in its history: 2.0! RBCS has been edited by the Brazilian Soil Society for 48 years and a reference for tropical agriculture.

The impact factor is an indicator that measures the relevance of a scientific journal based on the average number of citations that its articles receive in a given period. An impact factor 2.0 means that, on average, each article published in the last two years has been quoted twice in 2024. “This index is a clear reflection of the quality and influence of RBCs in the scientific community,” says José Miguel Reichert (UFSM), editor-in-chief of the magazine.

For Reinaldo Cantarutti (UFV), also editor-in-chief of RBCS, this milestone reaffirms the commitment of the entire editorial team to promote the national and international recognition of the journal and consolidate it as a reference in the dissemination of research on tropical soils and sustainability. “The relevance of RBCs is the result of great collective work, which includes the efforts of authors, reviewers, editors and Brazilian Soil Science Society,” he said.

Given these results, RBCS follows its mission of promoting advances with quality science, now towards the celebration of its 50 years in 2027.
