The Paraná State Center of SBCS (Nepar) promoted, between 13 and 15 May, at the Rebouças and Cabral campuses of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), in Curitiba (PR), the IX Paranaense Meeting of Soil Science (RPCs). The event was coordinated by Professor Nerilde Favaretto (UFPR) and the organization was under the responsibility of UFPR and supporting institutions: Embrapa Florestas, IAT-, IDR-PR, PUC-PR, Seab, Faep, UTP and UTFPR system.

The event brought together 468 subscribers and presentation of 226 scholarships. Participants were able to participate in lectures, organized in three thematic axes to address the different approaches of the central theme “Diversity, Functions and Uses of the Soil: Challenges and Opportunities”.

Within these thematic axes, 10 seminars and a round table were organized. The organization made a point of encouraging gender diversity. Among the 37 speakers, 18 were women. Also, 5 seminars were moderate by women and the total of participants, 53% were women.

During the IX Paraná Meeting of Soil Science (RPCs) there was also approval of the election of the new Nepar Board for Management 2026-2027 and the choice of Londrina to hold X RPCS in 2027. The event will be organized by the Paraná Rural Development Institute (IDR-PR). It was also indicated that the XI RPCS will be in the western region of the state, under the organization of the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR).
