Convocação da FAO aos cientistas do solo

01/12/2014

Dear GSP Partners and Colleagues,

On the 5th December 2014, for the first time in history, the UN World Soil Day will be celebrated.

The United Nations will officially celebrate this event in Bangkok, Rome, New York and Santiago, while other celebrations will take place in other parts of the world. Furthermore, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2015 as the International Year of Soils to advocate for the sustainable management of this essential resource.

This is what you can do to help us raising visibility on soils:

  • Share the info.  Use the communication material we have develop (cards, posters, funky info graphics)  to help people understand why soils are so important and why we need to safeguard them. This page offers campaign materials to help you out with your activities.
  • Mapping events. When you are organising a presentation or an event related to soil, add your activity on the WSD event map and help us build momentum and visibility.
  • Show that you care. Send us photos from your event (whatever it is: exhibition, cultural event, workshop, presentation etc) so that we can post them to the official World Soil Day photo gallery and show that people are acting to promote healthy soils.

Make sure you check the site often, as we will keep on posting new products in different languages.

Help us spread the worldLet’s make World Soil Day an important appointment in everybody’s agenda.

Together, we can do it.
